Scouts are the third section of the Scouting movement. This section is open to all
boys & girls aged between 10.5 to 14 years old.
All scouts are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities. There are a
number of Challenge Awards & Activity Badges to obtain. Scouts is delivered through
the balanced programme that helps each individual find out about the world we all
live in, it encourages each individual to know their own abilities & helps them understand
the importance of fitness, community projects, creativity and team work.
It also provides the opportunities to explore their own personal attitudes & values.
Being outdoors is the most important part of the programme & is delivered through
traditional Scouting skills from camping, cycling, hiking, tying knots, community
work and backwoods cooking. Above all the scout section is about making new friends,
having fun, learning new skills here in Newton Mearns as well as through International
Events such as summer camps abroad, Jamborrees or JOTA (Jamboree On The Air).
If you would like to come along & give it a go please drop in on a Thursday night
at 7-8.30pm. Go on give it a go it may be the best thing you ever did.
